Blackvale Estate
Blackvale Estate is the current stable name I use and represents the culmination of my sim stable owner history since roughly 1999. It is fictionally located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, just outside of the city of Victoria (which is where the breeds take their name from.)
The name Blackvale and one of my previous stable names Westveil are both inspired by a setting in Kirsten Britain’s Green Rider novels: the Blackveil forest. Most of my sim stables in the past have focused either on English sport disciplines or on a particular breed group. In the past I have given a more complete history than what you’re about to read because I want to give other players the best chance of confirming their suspicions that they know me because we played together somewhere else at some point. In this case, since this website is written with the knowledge that there is every possibility that absolutely no one ever reads this page and with the intent that this is no longer attached to a specific game or community, I will simply list some highlights. I will also not reveal my alternate aliases throughout the years. I am Jenna. A little more information than that is available if you decide to buy my art or seek other projects I’ve done, but here all you need to know is that my name is Jenna.
Mini History
I have used variants of the stable name Blackvale Estate (be it Blackvale Estate(s) or Blackvale Ltd.) in various communities going back as far as 2010 and Westveil Estate as far back as 2012, but my sim history goes back to 1999. Some key stable names and associated breeder prefixes/suffixes you may find in my herd are:
- Atuan Arabians, Atuan International | Atuan (prefix), AI (suffix) | 2005-2012
- Blackvale Estate, Blackvale Ltd | Blackvale (prefix), BV/Bv (suffix) | 2010-current
- Cherrywood Estate | Cherrywood (prefix), CE (suffix) | 2006-2007
- Foxwood Inc. | Foxwood (prefix), Fx (suffix) | 2014-2015
- Jugeotte Arabee (with co-owner) | JA (suffix) | 2005
- Majesty International, Majesty International All Sim | MI/MIA (Suffix) | 2003-2005
- Shakespeare Arabians | (no brands) | 2003-2005
- Skyline International | Skyline (prefix) | 2007-2008
- South Oliver Ranch (with co-owner) | SO (suffix) | 2004

I staffed (and in many cases created) some of the following defunct games over the years: Impulsion Sim Game (staff), Northumberland Sim Game (co-creator), On The Bit (staff), Revolution Sim (creator), Rune Island (creator), Timberline Ranch Sim (creator), Spur (creator)
"All Sim" is the Anglosphere's name for the community of sim players who collaborate in English in an open-world setting where show circuits are shared but there are otherwise no hard rules, no centralized horse and player registry, no game economy, etc. A couple key forums serve as the communication hub for this community. The English-speaking All Sim has connections with the German and Swedish equivalent communities, and we're sure others also exist.
"Horses Forever" is a long-standing game that was still active at the time of taking Blackvale into solo-play mode. It was very much like the All Sim at that point and had been for many years, but did possess a horse registry and some limitations on horse ownership.
The Present
My primary breeding/horse creation goal at Blackvale Estate is to develop and perpetuate the VHC breeds, which thus means I need to maintain and cultivate good breeding herds of the contributing breeds as well. This means that in terms of real world breeds I keep a lot of Lipizzaners, Trakehners, Arabians, Anglo-Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Cleveland Bays, Friesians, Hackney Horses, Morgans, Welsh Sections A-D, Connemara Ponies, Fell Ponies, German Riding Ponies, and various Warmbloods, Warmblood-adjacent sport horses, and various inspected sport ponies. I have a lot of Canadian Warmbloods in my misc. warmblood herd because I’m Canadian and I want to promote our warmbloods. For similar reasons, I’d like to have some Canadian Sport Horses and North American Sportponies.
I also bring Newfoundland Ponies with me from past games and want to re-establish a small herd of Canadian Horses just for the joy of putting a spotlight on these rare Candian breeds, though I have no plans to work them into the VHC breeds in any way. I also maintain Norwegian Fjord Horses because of my family heritage and because they’re so darn cute.
Quarter Horses are a real-life favourite breed of mine, but I'm not a fan of western pleasure and I have a moral objection with rodeo, so I am no longer interested in maintaining a QH or more general stock herd here at Blackvale. You will see some in my herd as ancestors and pasture puffs because I had them and I’m still attached or because they were crossbred into other populations, but the VHC show circuit will not have a traditional place for them.
I have previously participated in all forms of equine racing in sim games, but I disagree with the welfare of all non-endurance racing industries in the real world, so I no longer breed them and the VHC show circuit will not host races. I make an exception in my objections for endurance riding, as this and the sister discipline competitive trail do put welfare at the forefront, but I also believe that endurance horses should only do endurance and that doesn’t fit anything else about my program.
I have previously been very involved in running saddle seat show circuits in sim games, though I have never allowed any representation of Big Lick or plantation pleasure in my shows. I have growing concerns that similar abuse takes place in other subsections of saddle seat circuits, so my SS participation is now limited to the sport-adjacent ridden pleasure classes and driving disciplines that display the natural, unaltered gait of flashy breeds (fine harness, sjees, Hackney gig, etc.)
I adore drafts, but they don’t fit my breeds and I don’t have the time to put draft-specific classes in my show circuit.
Blackvale’s primary disciplines are dressage, eventing, show jumping, hunters, combined driving, dressage driving, and the aforementioned natural movement SS classes.
